Tender oven baked ribs with a KC style barbecue sauce
This is a good recipe for the winter months. Let's say you really want dome dank-ass barbecue but don't want to freeze your ass off in front of a grill outside. I'm using a homemade barbecue sauce for this. I will make a seperate recipe for that then link it to this page.
Here's what you will need:
Spice Rub
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 2 TSP salt
- 2 TSP granulated garlic
- 2 TSP onion powder
- 2 TSP chili powder
- 1 TSP ground mustard
- 1 TSP black pepper
- 1 TSP celery seed
- 1 TSP ground cumin
- 1/2 TSP cayenne pepper
- 1/2 TSP cinnamon
- Mix all ingredients and set aside
Ribs
- 3 lb rack of baby or loin back ribs
- Bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce or you can use my recipe here (stub)
- Prepared spice rub
How to make:
- Preheat oven to 300 deg Fahrenheit
- In a foil lined baking sheet put down a sheet of foil 2 feet long (shiny side up) and place the ribs on top
- Rub down both sides of the ribs with the spice mix. Coverting them completly
- Tightly cover the rack of ribs with the foil sheet
- Place in the oven and cook for 2 and a half hours. Checking periodically for doneness
- When the ribs are finished you should be able to pierce with a fork and gently pull them apart but they should also NOT fall off of the bone
- Take out of the oven and unwrap from the foil
- Preheat oven to 375 deg Fahrenheit
- Cover the entire rack of ribs with barbecue sauce
- Place back in the oven for 20 minute intervals. After each interval brush the ribs with more barbecue sauce
- Repeat last step 2 more times. The sauce should be carmalizing
- Take out of the oven and let rest for 15 minutes
- ENJOY!!!
